Dr. Benjamin Allen, Senior Research Fellow (Wildlife Research) at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia visited NIFS Kandy, Sri Lanka last week. This visit aims to establish a collaboration between USQ and NIFS. USQ is aiming to collaborate in the area of joint postgraduate and postdoctoral research supervision. Dr. Allen is an animal ecologist and keen to work in Sri Lanka in the areas of Human-Elephant conflict & Human – Monkey conflict. Dr. Allen and Professor Seneweera (Director of NIFS) visited a primate research center at Polonnaruwa where they met Prof. Dittus, scientist of NIFS & discussed the opportunities to establish future collaborative research works. In the same tour, the team visited Sam Popham Arboretum of NIFS at Dambulla and looked at the diversity of flora & fauna in the arboretum. This visit is a big step toward the collaborative research between NIFS & USQ.
