The event was organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research according to the concept of the Hon. Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe. The exhibition was held from July 18th to July 21st at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall and was presided by the President and the Prime Minister.
The exposition was held under four main clusters and 12 major technical themes. NIFS was given the responsibility to champion two technology themes Blue Green Technology and New Energy. Under the guidance of the Director Prof. Saman Seneweera Blue Green Technology tech theme was led by Prof. S.A.Kulasooriya and New Energy was led by Prof.M.A.K.L.Dissanayake.
Apart from NIFS scientists and their research teams NIFS invited stakeholders representing the universities and private companies who carry out research and provide services under the two themes. Universities of Peradeniya, Moratuwa, Jaffna, Wayamba, Ruhuna,Kelaniya and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University joined us representing the universities. INSEE cement, Green building council, John Keells Research, Kubota, Fareway Waste Management and Saara Bhumi Lanka joined us from the Private sector. Sustainable Energy Authority joined us representing a Government institute.
In the two technology zones we presented altogether 35 new inventions and research work. The Coconut shell super capacitors and Monkey Repellent device presented in our tech zones were of the main attractions of the exhibition. Blue Green Technology and New Energy were highlighted through the exposition for being the most attractive technology zones.
