Uthpala Premarathna joined as an M.Phil. Research Assistant to the Microbiology and Soil Ecosystems project at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS) in 2023. She received her B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2022. Previously, she worked as a Temporary Demonstrator at the same university from 2022 to 2023. Her research interests include Soil Carbon Sequestration, Mitigation of Climate Change, Remote Sensing and GIS, Ecosystem Modelling, and Water Quality Management.
