Background
Professor Lalith Jayasinghe, B.Sc. Chemistry Special Degree 1985, PhD in Organic Chemistry 1992, University of Peradeniya. He is currently a Senior Research Professor and the Project Leader, Natural Products Research Project of the NIFS, Kandy, Sri Lanka. In 1994 he was awarded a Diploma in Natural Products Chemistry by the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He was an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart (1999/2000) and Jacobs University Bremen (2011, 2015 & 2019) Germany. Other Fellowships and award received include the IPICS Research Fellowship in 1988 to HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Pakistan; Kandiah Memorial Award in 1992 from the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon; TWAS-NARESA Young Scientist Award in 1992; UNESCO & Mombusho Research Fellowship in 1993 to the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He was also a Visiting Scientist at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2004; University of Mississippi, USA in 2004/2005; University of Milan, Italy in 2006; Visiting Professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2009. Prof. Jayasinghe is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences Sri Lanka since 2012. He was awarded 8 Presidential Awards for scientific publications and research publications have received 1602 citations (June 2020). He has published over 85 peer reviewed articles with H-index of 22, 3 book chapters and 262 communications to Learned Societies (Local and foreign). He has supervised 3-Ph.D., 18-M.Phil. and 4-M.Sc..
