Tropical Plant Families Identification Workshop
The Institute of Biology Sri Lanka and the Department of Botany, University of Sri Jayewardenepura jointly organized the "Tropical Plant Families Identification Workshop," which took place on the 30th of August 2024 (online) and the 1st of September 2024 (on-site). This workshop provided a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of tropical plant families through both theoretical and practical learning.
Dr. Himesh Jayasinghe from the National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Kandy, delivered an insightful online lecture on the Best Practices in the Field: Collection, Identification, and Preservation of Plants. His session covered essential techniques for fieldwork, emphasizing the importance of accurate plant identification and effective preservation methods to ensure the integrity of collected specimens.
