Dry Rations donated to NIFS cleaning staff by Sivananthan Laboratoris, USA on 4th May 2022

A programme to distribute dry ration packs to 14 members of the NIFS cleaning staff was successfully concluded on 4th May 2022 at the NIFS, Hanthana Road, Kandy. This was a timely initiative by Prof. Siva Sivananthan, Founder, and Chairman of Sivananthan Laboratories, Inc., Illinois, USA. Professor Sivananthan is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), USA, and a generous alumnus of the Department of Physics at the University of Peradeniya.

The total cost of Rs.5000 for each dry ration pack and an additional cash donation of Rs.1000 for each recipient was covered by a donation by Sivananthan Laboratories, USA to support the economically most needy group of the NIFS community in this critical crisis situation in the country.

The distribution event was graced by Prof. Athula Sumathipala, Chairman of NIFS, Prof. Saluka Kodithuwakku, Director of NIFS, and Mrs. Sagarika Mediwaka, Secretary of NIFS. It was organized and coordinated by Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake on behalf of the Sivananthan Laboratories. The organizers thank Prof. Siril Wijesundera, Prof. Deepal Subasinghe, and Mr. D. Gunathilake for the assistance provided.
