Annual Research Review 2025 – National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS)
The Annual Research Review of the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS), Sri Lanka, was successfully held on 1st April 2025 at the Cyril Ponnamperuma Auditorium, NIFS, Kandy.
The event was graced by Hon. Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Chrishantha Abeysena, as the Chief Guest. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Siril Wijesundara, Director of NIFS, followed by an address from the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Prof. Athula Sumathipala. Prof. G.R.A. Kumara, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. Gomika Udugamasooriya, President’s Senior Advisor on Science and Technology, from the University of Houston and the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, USA.
Following the inaugural session, technical sessions featured presentations by NIFS scientists on the progress of their respective research programmes during the year 2024. The event concluded with the final remarks by Prof. Siril Wijesundara, bringing the review to a close on a high note.
As part of the event, awards and recognitions were presented to honour the achievements and contributions of NIFS staff.
